SERVICES / Finite element analysis
Finite element analysis and strength calculations.
Where do critical stresses occur, and how does the structure deform? We analyse components and joints and turn the results into a documented basis for decisions.

DELIVERABLES
What you receive from Solutn.
- A calculation report with the model, materials, loads and supports.
- Results for relevant stresses, deformations and failure modes.
- Assessment against the agreed acceptance criteria.
- Critical areas and any proposals for design modifications.
How we get started.
Send us the material you already have. We review the basis and agree on scope, documentation and schedule.
View the relevant information and files
- A 3D model or drawings, and information about joints.
- Material data, loads and support conditions.
- The design basis and the question the analysis needs to answer.
The calculation method, relevant failure modes and acceptance criteria are clarified before the analysis. Results are assessed in the context of the model’s assumptions.
TYPICAL TASKS
A detailed model of the specific load condition.
Finite element analysis divides geometry into smaller elements to calculate structural response. It can examine local effects that a simple hand calculation does not describe adequately. The model, materials, loads and supports must suit the question the analysis needs to answer.
Stresses and deformation
Analysis of component and structural response to the defined load cases.
Joints and local details
Examination of relevant transitions, connections and locations with concentrated loads.
Stability
Assessment of relevant stability conditions based on structural geometry and loads.
Pressure components
Component analysis to an agreed EN 13445 or ASME VIII basis.
Fatigue
Assessment of cyclic loads and critical details where fatigue is included in the task.
Design modifications
Comparison of structures or a basis for modifications and reinforcement.
QUESTIONS
Before we get started.
When is finite element analysis relevant?
The method is relevant for complex geometry, local loads or a detailed assessment of structural response. The choice of method depends on the task.
Is a colour plot sufficient documentation?
A plot is an illustration. The report must also describe the model, assumptions, method and assessment against the relevant criteria.
CONTACT
What needs to be calculated or designed?
Send a short description, a drawing or a photo. Tell us what you want to modify or assess and when you need the deliverable. We will clarify the technical basis and next steps.
You are also welcome to call if the scope is still taking shape.
